About Rochester Presbytrian Home

RPH became an Eden Alternative Community in 2002 and since then we have brought the Eden revolution in person-directed care to our honored Elders. We provide a fulfilling way of life where each person is truly "at home." The RPH Homestead was established in 1925 and provides both assisted living and memory care services on Thurston Road in the 19th Ward of Rochester. There are 37 Elders living in our North Hall which offers an elegant Gathering Room with an oriental carpet and stately Victoria surroundings. North Hall reflects the charm and character of historic Rochester. Each Elder enjoys a private room and residents are encouraged to bring their own furnishings so they feel at home along with easy access to the Country Kitchen, sun porches, a Computer Room, beauty shop and Country Store. Don & Norma's Ice Cream Parlor is a favorite spot for Elders and families gather. A bus, van, staff and volunteers schedule regular community outings with destinations to local restaurants, cultural events, picnics at the beach, shopping and rides in the country.

The Homestead's Memory Care residences in South Hall provide four levels of Memory Care for up to 55 Elders. The first floor offers the main dining room, private dining areas, an assembly room, chapel and living room. There is easy access to a secured enclosed patio and walking paths, flower gardens and planters and a summer vegetable garden. On the lower level is our fitness center, arts and crafts room and beauty salon. The second floor provides single bedrooms and bath for those requiring Early-Stage Memory Care. The floorplan offers and open living room with large screen TV, a kitchen with cooking available (under supervision), and a dining room for family gatherings and socials. The third and fourth floors are secured for the safety of our Elders. The third floor is for Mid-Stage Memory Care and fourth floor for Advanced-Stage Memory Care and Enhanced Care. Each Elder has a private bedroom and bathroom along with large shower facilities and on-site laundry.

The Memory Care Residences at Cottage Grove opened in 2009. These four adjacent residences exemplify RPH's philosophy and vision for Elder care as we nurture relationships that feel like family within homes that are truly home. At Cottage Grove you walk into an open living room and dining area with a state-of-the-art kitchen. Staff and Elders share meals in the main dining room. The 12 Elders in each house have a private bedroom and full bath with shower. There is secure outdoor space with walkways and gardens that connect the four residences as well as an on-site beauty parlor and bus transportation to many social events and outings.

The Memory Care Residences at Creekstone will open in 2016. Modeled after Cottage Grove, these four adjacent residences will expand on RPH's philosophy and vision for Elder care as we nurture relationships. At Creekstone you walk into an open living room and dining area with a state-of-the-art kitchen. Staff and Elders share meals in the main dining room. The 14 Elders in each house have a private bedroom and full bath with shower. There is secure outdoor space with walkways and gardens that connect the four residences and also an enclosed walkway between cottages. There is an on-site beauty parlor and bus transportation to many social events and outings.

The Enrichment Team works with groups of Elders to engage them in social, emotional and spiritual events throughout their week. There are weekly calendars posted on the website for upcoming activities. For example, there are Exercise Classes, yoga, plant care, numerous musical performances both in-house and in the surrounding community. Some Elders like to play games while others choose puzzles or reading a good book. Weekly church services are provided by St. Monica's for Roman Catholic services and RPH's Chaplain offers regular worship services along with Bible study and book discussions. In addition, the Homestead offers a monthly Couples Luncheon and North Hall Elders gather their Elders' input through Resident Council. Each of our Eden Families, representing the Elders living on each floor or in each house, involve the Elders and their families and staff in planning for monthly socials and spontaneous activities as well.
